One Thought, Shifted

Updated: Aug 27

Let’s face it — not all of our thoughts are going to be positive. Some mornings, the first thought is already heavy. It happens before we’ve even had coffee. The brain latches onto guilt, stress, or doubt and sets the tone for the day.

But what if, instead of trying to silence every thought, you focused on just one? What if you took a single negative thought and gave it a different view?

That shift doesn’t erase the hard stuff, but it loosens its grip. It creates a little breathing room.

Today, for example, I let the house go a little. As a mom, that guilt hit hard — because yes, it is my responsibility. But I reminded myself: the time I “lost” wasn’t wasted. I spent it building myself, and building my business. That matters too.

And when the guilt softened, I picked up a pen and wrote a short list of small things I could do today to feel complete in that area. Not perfect. Just enough.

Maybe your version looks different. Maybe it’s changing “I can’t keep up” into “I can try one thing today.” Or “I failed again” into “I’m learning what works.”

It won’t make every thought positive. But it can make one thought kinder. And that might be all you need to change the tone of your day.

What's stuck with you?

I'd love to hear it — drop me a quick note.
